Capital Companies
Capital companies are independent legal entities with their own rights and obligations. For example, they can initiate or be subject to lawsuits independently of their shareholders, incur debts, lend money, and own property. The company's debts are limited to the company's capital and assets.
- AG; Aktiengesellschaft = Public Limited Company, minimum capital 50.000,00 €
- GmbH; Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung = Limited Liability Company, minimum capital 25.000,00 €
- UG; Unternehmensgesellschaft, Temporäre Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung = Temporary Limited Liability Company, minimum 1,00 €
Partnership Companies
The fundamental difference between partnership companies and capital companies is that in partnership companies, shareholders are personally liable with all of their personal assets. There is no minimum capital requirement to establish a company of this type. At least two individuals or legal entities are required for company formation.

Sole Proprietorship
Setting up a sole proprietorship is the easiest type of company and does not require capital.
